band practice

Thursday night bad practice was last night; I'm still learning to play the drums.

Playing the drums is strange. After the first few times through a movement, the sound and motion become a body memory. If one lets the hands do their thing, it's easy. But if the brain focuses on the action, the body memory isn't used and it falls apart. This is very different from playing the trumpet which required constant cerebral engagement to hit the right notes. There was some body memory involved but for the most part, at least for me, it was like reading sheet music from memory.

After practice, tradition is to hit the local watering hole for beers. We did, of course. The company was good; the hour long stream of cigar smoke, not so good.

anxiety
after years of law enforcement work , investigation , federal officer
in the worst enviroment you can imagine compton , ca aka the hood
and other locations around the usa.

i came down with a chronic disease which developed into several other
conditions. i began having what i diagnosed myself as anxiety to the
point i had tachycardia.

hooked up with a great doctor and he told me he had a similar patient
that was emotionally stable but had similar signs and symptoms for no
obvious reason.

long story short it was low level of magnesium and potasium
i drink soy three times and day and eat nuts and it has kept
it in check ever since. with no anxiety problems.
