new house and vacation

In a completely unexpected turn of events, a friend through the Heartland Humanists put his house on the market two weeks ago and last Monday -- figuring it wouldn't hurt to look -- we looked at it and immediately knew that we wanted it. Problem was, we weren't planning on buying our first house for another year ... so we didn't have much money to work with. So, we have been going through the process of 100% financing and at this point, even though we haven't gotten a confirmation, I'm pretty certain that we've got it. We have a contract with the seller, home owners insurance policy set up, ernest money deposited with a title company and yesterday we completed a $350 inspection. Everything is looking good so I am posting the pictures below.

We should hear on our loan for sure today or Monday.

I'll spare you all the laundry list of everything we did on our vacation. It was significant for us because it's the first vacation that Brandon and I have really taken together ... in 3.5 years. We visited Chicago and saw the sights culminating in a spectacular fireworks display at Millennium Park on the night of July 3rd. It was nice to get away from the Internet for a few days. By far the best thing we saw was the Art Institute. Their collection is just amazingly large. We especially marvelled at the American Gothic, Van Goughs, French Impressionists, and Salvador Dalis. We could have spent several days there.
