backing up through SSH

I have a few clients that need weekly backups. I manage their servers remotely and I though I'd post this helpful little tip that Hal helped me with:

$ ssh -2C -l [username] "tar -cj [remote directory]" > /localpath/[Client's Name]-$(date +%Y%m%d).tar.bz2

It could, of course, be dropped in your crontab, too. Also, make sure your client has a nice upload speed or this could take a while. I use this to back up samba shares.
